More Than a Haircut is an interactive experience that allows the viewer to step inside barbershops around the world and hear directly from barbers and their clients. The project explores what it means to be a man today in various cultures and communities, and unpacks the taboos surrounding men's mental health. The videos you see here are compilations of selected clips from the interactive documentary.
One of the ways they do this is by providing invaluable Mental Health First Aid training to barbers, whose uniquely intimate, familiar and regular relationship with their clients means they can provide these men with a listening ear and caring support when needed.
What is an interactive documentary?
Interactive documentary pushes the boundaries of traditional linear docs by creating an immersive experience that brings the viewer much closer to the story. By introducing the element of agency, the viewer can find their own way through the story, co-creating the narrative.
In this way, it's possible to make a far deeper and more memorable impression on viewers, who come away feeling they themselves have taken part in the story.
